Station 20 along with its mutual aid companies were activated Oct. 17th at 21:54 for a possible structure fire at 7321 Barberry Lane. Engine 7, with FF/EMT-P Jeff Jones as the officer, was the first to respond from our station. While enroute dispatch confirmed a signal 99 with all occupants out of the building. Manlius Car 1 had assumed command. Fayetteville Car 2 ran ground operations. First to arrive was Dewitt truck. Engine 7 arrived shortly after, established a water supply and crews began the initial assault. A long narrow downhill driveway hindered access to the scene and limited the amount of equipment. Fire was visible from the roof area upon arrival. The fire, believed to have started on the exterior of the building, had extended indoor and into the attic space. Interior crews from Fayetteville, Manlius, East Syracuse, Minoa, Kirkville and Dewitt aided in the efforts. Scene support crews assisted with SCBA bottle changes, firefighter rehab and ground equipment. EMS crews from Station 20 provided care to firefighters and the public as needed. The structure sustained damage but was not a total loss. Engines from Lyncourt and Jamesville staged as backup on the floor at Fayetteville station during the incident.
